Since its founding, ASH Africa has evolved from a youth- and women-focused skills trainer into a pan-African ecosystem architect, building systems that connect people to opportunity at scale.

Africa Internship Academy (AIA) Established

Founded in Accra, Ghana, as a youth employment accelerator focused on preparing graduates for internships and job opportunities.

— 2017

Early Programme Rollout

Delivered initial internship and job shadowing programmes, reaching over 300 young students and graduates.

— 2018

Graduate Internship Programme Expansion

Launched a structured internship programme supporting young graduates, with participation extending to Nigeria, Sierra Leone, and Liberia.

— 2020

Transition to Africa Skills Hub (ASH)

Expanded focus from employment pathways to youth entrepreneurship and SME development.

— 2021

Launch of ASH Micro-credit

Introduced a financial inclusion initiative providing accessible capital to women-led SMEs.

Strengthening Systems and Support

  • Established a Research Desk to drive evidence-based programming and policy engagement
  • Launched a Call Centre Desk to provide post-training support and advisory service

Scaling Impact

Surpassed 50,000 cumulative beneficiaries across Ghana and began programmes in multiple African countries, including Cameroon, Kenya, Ethiopia, Tanzania, and Nigeria.

Rebranded to ASH Africa

Marked 10 years of impact with a transition to ASH Africa, signalling a bold shift to continental scale and ecosystem leadership.
